Recipe for spicy shrimp in tomato sauce. Boiled shrimp in tomato sauce King shrimp in tomato sauce

You can't help but like this dish if you are a fan of fried shrimp, and not necessarily tiger or king ones. This way you can cook absolutely any shrimp, even small ones, you just need to reduce the cooking time, and I assure you that all your guests will lick their fingers, even despite their evening dresses)))

To prepare tiger prawns fried in tomato sauce, prepare the ingredients according to the list. The shrimp must first be defrosted, the greens washed and dried.

First, prepare the sauce. Mix your favorite tomato sauce, Worcestershire, soy sauce, hot sauce and oyster sauce, add lemon juice. If you don't have oyster sauce, replace it with fish sauce, but if you don't have that, just add salt to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add a little white wine or water - whatever you have on hand. Also, if you like fusion, you can add a little liquid honey to the sauce.

Heat oil in a frying pan, add crushed garlic clove and rosemary.

When the delicious rosemary-garlic aroma comes out, add the shrimp to the pan. Cook for 1.5-2 minutes on one side.

Turn over to the other side and cook for the same amount of time.

Add tomato sauce. By the way, if you have a normal relationship with garlic, you can put it through a press and add it along with tomato sauce.

Mix well, add chopped parsley, mix again and cook over low heat for 1 minute. Turn off the stove, cover the pan with a lid and let the dish sit for a few minutes before serving.

In the days “before the crisis,” on this day, most Greek families went out into nature - to fly kites with their children, take part in folk festivities, and then, on the occasion of the holiday, visit some tavern.

Now most of the Greeks have moved their festive feast to their own homes, where a group of relatives and friends gather. Of course, in terms of the quality of food, a home table is significantly superior to any tavern. It was not possible to go for a walk that day - the weather was bad, it was cold, there was a strong wind, and then it started raining until the evening.

So we gathered at my husband’s sister’s house. Liza is an excellent cook; she and her daughter Vula cooked together. The men were tasked with grilling sardines over coals, and I traditionally cooked these same saganaki shrimp. Everything on the table was very tasty, although there was too much - here it’s just like in Russia, we eat the leftovers for another day or two. My shrimp were a big hit too, maybe someone else might want to make some at home too!

Garides Saganaki

We will need:

  • 1 kg fresh or frozen shrimp
  • 2 onions
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 large tomatoes, grated, or 200 ml concentrated tomato juice
  • some fresh parsley
  • a few slices of hot pepper
  • 50 ml ouzo
  • 100 g feta cheese
  • olive oil
  • salt, pepper, a little sugar

How to cook shrimp in tomato sauce

Boil the shrimp in a little water for a few minutes until they change color. Remove the shrimp, strain the broth - we will need it later. I personally clean cooled shrimp - I remove the head and shell, leaving only the tail. I don’t clean all of it, about half of it – even if it’s whole, it looks better in the dish :)

Heat olive oil in a large frying pan and fry finely chopped onion and garlic until soft. Add mashed tomatoes or tomato juice, salt, sugar, pepper. If you don't want to add hot pepper, you can replace it with sweet green pepper.

Simmer the sauce for a few minutes, add shrimp and strained broth, finely chopped parsley. Bring to a boil, pour in the ouzo, leave to simmer for a couple of minutes, reduce the heat to medium and leave to simmer until the sauce thickens.

Place the finished shrimp in a dish and sprinkle with mashed cheese. Feta can also be placed in a frying pan, in a sauce, but when heated, it will “dissolve” in the sauce. Some people like it this way more, it's a matter of taste.

That's it, now you can serve it! In our case, the dishes on the table that were required for Clean Monday were:

  • fried bacallaros - cod fillet fried in batter
  • Skordaglia - garlic sauce for bkagliaros and fried squid
  • Taramas - fish roe dip
  • lagana - special bread baked on this day
  • homemade halva for dessert

There were also optional dishes, including my shrimp. Everything was very tasty, I hope that you will like the recipe for shrimp in sauce and that you will want to cook it. The sauce turns out delicious, not a drop of it remains :)

Cooking options:

You don’t have to boil the shrimp, but peel them raw (or not peel them) and fry them together with the onion until they turn red. You can extinguish it with white wine if you don’t have ouzo, although the taste will be different. Bon appetit!
