  • 700-800 g fresh cabbage
  • 2 onions
  • 3 tomatoes
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 large carrot
  • 3/4 cup rice
  • bunch of greenery
  • vegetable oil
  • salt, pepper, seasonings to taste

This amount of ingredients is designed for approximately 8 servings. If you are cooking for one meal for a family of 4 people, take 2 times less food.

Cooking method:

First, let's prepare the vegetables with which we will cook very lazy cabbage rolls...

Peel the onions and cut into small cubes.

Peel the garlic and also finely chop it.

Wash the carrots, peel them and grate them on a coarse grater.

Heat a frying pan, pour in vegetable oil, add onion and garlic and fry over low heat until the onion becomes transparent.

Add the carrots and continue to fry over low heat until the carrots become soft.

While the onions and carrots are fried, prepare the cabbage, rice and tomatoes. Place the rice in boiling salted water and cook for 10 minutes until half cooked. Instead of salt, you can crumble a chicken bouillon cube, the rice will be tastier. Then drain into a colander and rinse lightly with cold water.

Finely chop the cabbage.

Wash the tomatoes, cut each one in half and cut out any excess.

Now grate each half on a coarse grater, leaving the skin behind.

You could, of course, first peel the tomatoes by pouring boiling water over them, and then grate them. But rubbing the uncleaned halves is faster and more convenient, and your fingers will be intact. Salt and pepper the resulting tomato mass to taste.

By this time, the onions, garlic and carrots are ready. Now take a plate with minced meat and add half of it in small pieces to the frying pan.

Mix. Add the remaining minced meat, salt, pepper and mix again. Close the lid and cook for 10-15 minutes over low heat, stirring occasionally. If you feel that the contents are starting to burn, add some water from the kettle.

Place the cabbage in the pan, add salt, pepper and stir. You can add seasonings that you like. Close the lid and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the cabbage becomes soft and settles a little. At this time, wash and finely chop the greens.
If you are preparing lazy cabbage rolls from young cabbage, then you need to simmer less, for 5-7 minutes.

Open the lid and add rice and mashed tomatoes to the pan.

In addition to stewing in a frying pan, cabbage rolls can be cooked in the oven. Just pour a sauce of water, tomato paste and sour cream after you fry them and bake.

When forming cabbage rolls, their shape is more like large cutlets; they need to be rolled in flour. Thanks to this, the cabbage rolls will acquire a golden brown crust and retain their shape. To cook such lazy cabbage rolls in a frying pan, we need a good frying pan with a non-stick coating, otherwise the cabbage rolls may simply stick to the bottom or fall apart, and we don’t need porridge.

Lazy cabbage rolls stewed in a frying pan

It takes a lot of time to prepare classic cabbage rolls, since each ingredient requires separate preparation, and the process of wrapping the minced meat in cabbage leaves is not quick. Fortunately, there is a simplified method - the so-called recipe for lazy cabbage rolls. Of course, their taste is slightly different, but the time saved on cooking makes it worth it.

The ingredients for lazy cabbage rolls with rice are the same as for traditional ones - rice, minced meat, cabbage, onions and carrots. But we will prepare them a little differently.

Ingredients for the dish “Lazy cabbage rolls stewed in a frying pan”:

  • - rice – 0.5 tbsp.;
  • - minced meat – 1 tbsp.;
  • - onion – 1 pc.;
  • - carrots – 1 pc.;
  • - cabbage – 3 – 4 leaves or a quarter of a small head of cabbage;
  • - pork fat – 1 tbsp. l.;
  • - tomato paste – 1-2 tbsp. l.;
  • - bay leaf – 1 pc.;
  • - salt pepper.

How to cook lazy cabbage rolls stewed in a frying pan:

In the “lazy” version, all the components of cabbage rolls are taken raw. If you have a little more time, you can first boil the rice until half cooked, and fry the onions and carrots a little in vegetable oil or pork fat.

We cut the cabbage into pieces (not necessarily small), the onion into half rings, and grate the carrots.

Mix all ingredients, salt and pepper. You can cook cabbage rolls either in the oven or in a frying pan. The first option is tastier, the second is faster.

Transfer the mixture into a frying pan, add a spoonful of pork fat, tomato paste and bay leaf on top.

Fill halfway with water and simmer on low heat with the lid on. When almost all the liquid has evaporated, mix the cabbage rolls well and bring to readiness without a lid.

You can serve lazy cabbage rolls as an independent dish, since they have both a meat part and a “side dish” of cabbage and rice. Bon appetit!

When you hear the word “stuffed cabbage rolls,” your memory immediately brings to mind how, as a child, your grandmother prepared “cutlets wrapped in cabbage leaves.” For some reason, it was the filling that was eaten, but the cabbage always remained in the plate. Although the most delicious thing is that the “cutlets” were soaked in cabbage juice.

Then the grandmother began to do things more cunningly - she did not wrap the cabbage rolls in the traditional way, but decided to chop the cabbage and add it to the minced meat. And such cabbage rolls were simply a hit with us.

Now, many years later, you understand perfectly well that these were, which consist of the same set of products, but look different.

The point of this dish is that cabbage leaves are not used as a separate component in the preparation, but directly in the minced meat.

So, let's look at examples of how you can prepare delicious lazy cabbage rolls in different ways.

Menu:

If you chop the cabbage well enough, then even picky eaters who don’t like this vegetable may not notice it there and gobble it up with great pleasure. And of course the children too.

Lazy cabbage rolls in a slow cooker

Modern housewives try to spend as little time as possible preparing food in order to spend more time with their loved ones, and all kinds of kitchen appliances and appliances help them with this. Many people have come to love the slow cooker because they can put all the ingredients in it, turn on the required mode and “forget” about it until the food is ready.

In order for lazy cabbage rolls to turn out successfully in a slow cooker, you need to use fresh ingredients and a delicate, aromatic sauce in which the cabbage rolls will go through the stewing process.
Lazy cabbage rolls cooked in a slow cooker will turn out even more tender and aromatic than with conventional cooking methods, because all the juices and aromas will be absorbed into the dish in the confined space of the device and not a drop of taste will fade away.

Ingredients:

Cabbage - 500 gr.
Minced meat - 500 gr.
Rice – 80 gr.
Onion - 1 pc.
Salt, pepper, spices - to taste;
Sunflower oil - 3 tbsp. l.
Sour cream – 4 tbsp. l.
Tomato paste – 4 tbsp. l.
Water – 350 ml.

Preparation:

1. First you need to prepare the vegetables. To do this, thoroughly wash the onion and head of cabbage. Dry them a little and chop them into small cubes or strips (your choice).

For speed and convenience, cabbage can be chopped using a food processor or a special knife for cutting into strips.

2. Prepare the meat component of the cabbage rolls. To do this, pour sunflower oil into a multi-cooker bowl and, in the “Frying” mode, lightly fry the chopped onion, constantly stirring, for 10 minutes. Then add minced meat to the fried onion, mix well and fry until tender in the same mode for 15 minutes.

It is best to prepare minced meat yourself from several types of well-washed meat without veins to get a juicy and original taste.

3. While the meat filling is being prepared, prepare the rice. To do this, rinse it thoroughly under running water until the draining water becomes clear, and boil until half cooked.

During washing, it is advisable to mix the rice well so that both debris and rice flour are removed.

4. Since our cabbage rolls will continue to be stewed, it is necessary to prepare a sauce filling in which our creation will languish. To do this, mix sour cream with tomato paste and water and mix well. The filling is ready!

Instead of tomato paste, you can use ready-made tomato juice and then you don’t need to add water.

5. Add prepared rice and cabbage to the fried minced meat with onions. Season, pepper, add your favorite seasonings and mix well.

6. Add our filling to the bowl and begin to simmer our lazy cabbage rolls in the “Stew” mode for about 45 minutes. You can also cook in the “Pilaf” mode.

Therefore, for lovers of the combination of minced meat with cabbage and rice, experienced chefs created this slightly modified dish and gave it the name - lazy cabbage rolls.

The very name of the recipe already suggests that much less time will be spent on its preparation. In this recipe, blanching cabbage and “packing” minced meat into it are completely excluded; this vegetable is used as a single whole.

The composition of the ingredients for lazy cabbage rolls remains the same, which means the taste combination does not change at all. In addition, they can be prepared in different ways. For example, they can be baked in the oven, fried in a frying pan, stewed in a saucepan, or made in a slow cooker. All of these 4 methods are good, but let's look at each of them separately.

Lazy cabbage rolls are prepared in almost the same way as their counterparts, classic cabbage rolls, with minced meat, rice and onions are added. The difference from the original is that finely chopped cabbage is also added to the minced meat. That is, the same products are used, but the dish differs only in the presentation form, since cabbage is added directly to the minced meat. Even the most inexperienced cook can handle this preparation.

From the resulting minced meat, cutlets are formed, which are fried in oil, and then stewed over low heat, or baked in the oven with sauce. The sauce itself can be varied. For example, sour cream, tomato or mixed sour cream and tomato.

In addition, if necessary, you can form similar cutlets and freeze them for future use, and when your heart desires, use them for their intended purpose.

There is also a recipe for “super lazy” cabbage rolls, where there is no need to even form the cutlets. The products are all mixed, fried in oil, and then stewed in sauce. When preparing this dish, you need to stir it regularly to avoid burning. This mixture can also be baked in the oven, in the form of a casserole with sour cream and tomato sauce.

    1. Fresh cabbage is used as a filler in this recipe. Since we are preparing lazy cabbage rolls and there is no need to wrap anything in cabbage leaves, but its taste is necessary, the cabbage needs to be finely chopped.

    2. Now transfer the shredded cabbage into a separate bowl with a lid, pour boiling water over it, cover with a lid and give some time for the cabbage to reach the desired state. This will take about 10-15 minutes.

    3. While the cabbage is brewing, let’s make rice. It must be rinsed well under running water to get rid of the rice flour. Pour the washed rice into a new saucepan, fill it with water and set to cook on low heat. As you know, rice takes 12 minutes to cook until the water boils. We need to cook the rice until half cooked. Therefore, we monitor when the water boils, cook for exactly 6 minutes and drain the water from the rice.

    4. Peel and chop all these vegetables in any way available to you.

    As for garlic, you can use it as desired.

    5. Onions and carrots need to be fried until golden and appetizing. But not all the onions need to be fried; leave some onions to add to the minced meat.

    We have almost all the ingredients ready, now we can start mixing everything together.

    10.The rice has cooled to the desired temperature and is now ready to work with.

    Select a container in which to mix all the ingredients.

    11.And so add minced meat, egg, cabbage, and fried vegetables to the rice. Mix everything well until smooth. Also don't forget about salt and pepper. Mix all ingredients until smooth. Attention, the mass should be such that it would be easy to make cabbage rolls from it. If the mass turns out to be a bit dry in your opinion, then you can add a little cabbage water or regular water.

    12.When the mass is completely ready, take the second half of the fried vegetables and place them in the form in which we will bake our lazy cabbage rolls.

    13. All that remains is to form the cabbage rolls and place them on a baking sheet.

    14. Lay out the cabbage rolls more tightly so that they all fit into one batch.

    If the minced meat sticks to your hands, just wet your hands with water.

    15.Put the baking sheet in the oven and bake the lazy cabbage rolls at 200 degrees for 30 minutes. During this time, a golden crust should appear.

    During this time, the dish will stew well and become ready.
